Opening a webshop

Hi, My name is Phillip Hobbs, I am originally from Australia but have moved to Denmark about 5 years ago. I now live in Århus with my Danish fiancée Kristine. I am  24 years old and work daily as Distributions manager for the worlds number 1 stock photographer here in Århus.

In my free time I am working on my new webshop/blog open at naturligeprodukter.dk. I am what you call an Øko freak. I only eat organic food and use the safest certified organic products on my skin or in my home. I am fanatic in the way I look at living healthy and without chemicals.

I got the idea to start importing and selling Australian made organic skincare, makeup and cleaning products, when after searching long and hard here in Denmark I couldn’t find any that would pass my stringent tests of being so safe that you could eat them.

I started a small website selling products from Australia in march this year but stopped soon after when I decided that I was not 100% satisfied with the way the business was going. My supplier was just one person and the whole system they had in place was unreliable for me, (because I want to make a business out of this not just  do it as a side thing.)

I have learnt a lot from starting my first webshop, I learnt: the basics of html coding, css, accounting, VAT, writing a businessplan, importing of products to Denmark (including the hassles of customs), International freight issues, negotiating, seo, opening a business, and managing projects in a timely fashion. I have got a HUGE help from the friendly people at Amino.dk also including Kristoffer.

From this experience I have something to say to you all thinking of starting your own business. I say Do it! Don’t hold back, there will never be a right time to start. Read books such as “swallow that frog”, “the 4 hour work week”, Any of Seth Godins Books, “E-Pusher” by Martin Thorborg. (I personally listen to an average of 3 audiobooks on self-improvement/business a week).

I have now found the best products in the world within skincare, makeup, and cleaning/household  .

So I made contact with Martin Tychsen from Overt.dk. He is an amazing Addition  to the team and a wonderful  business partner. So together (in the beginning) he is helping me with marketing, design, negotiation and all manner of important aspects.

We have decided to run the business using modern manageing, marketing and design techniques. I am planning for my business to change the way people that care about their health, shop and consume products here in Denmark.

I will be writing a blog dedicated to teaching and informing people of the dangerous ingredients/products that are marketed as “natural” “organic” and “safe for babies”

I spend a lot of my time go-giving on various forums related to health.

I really appreciate that Kristoffer has asked me to write this guest post on his blog.
